Mr. Jonathan Johnson, 100, of Windsor, went to meet the Lord on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Mr. Jonathan was born on September 17, 1924 to the now late Jordan and Nancy Cowan Johnson. Mr. Johnson served during World War II in the U.S. Navy traveling the seas and protecting his country. In March of 1948 he married the former Virginia Dare Miller who preceded him in death. Mr. Jonathan was a member of Ross Baptist Church where he was an active member until his health no longer permitted.

In addition to his parents and his wife Mr. Jonathan was predeceased by one son, Jonathan Johnson, Jr. and one daughter, Peggy Ann Johnson.

Mr. Jonathan is survived by three sons; Tommy Ray Johnson (Phyllis) of Colerain, Randy Kent Johnson (Melody) of Windsor, Eddie Carroll Johnson (Pat) of Colerain; two daughters, Esther Faye Johnson of Colerain, and Betty Jean Johnson Mathews (Charles) of Hertford; other survivors include; nine grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; and seven great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Ross Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Kiker and Dr. Jeffery Russell officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church, and other times at the home of his son and daughter in-law, Tommy and Phyllis Johnson. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery with military honors. Kent Johnson, Jason Johnson, Chris Johnson, Tracy Johnson, Bruce Johnson, Kyle Moseley, Chad Mathews, and Paul Mathews will serve as pallbearers.
