John Wheeler Cooper III August 2, 1942 - August 2, 2020

John Wheeler Cooper III (Jack) died peacefully at his home at Balgra,
surrounded by loved ones, on August 2, 2020. He was born August 2, 1942
to the late John Wheeler Cooper, Jr., and Rachel Rogerson Cooper. He is
predeceased in death by his sister Kate Cooper Cale. Jack is survived by
his wife Shirley Perry Cooper, brother The Rev. Joseph Wiley Cooper;
children, Anita Cooper Langston, John Tazewell Cooper, and Stephanie
Elizabeth Cooper; grandchildren Christin Joyner Roberson, Ashlyn Kate
Joyner, Donald Van Joyner, Jr., Alaina Gayle Bowen and Aliannah Rae
Bowen and great granddaughter Harper Paisley Joyner; nephew Robert
Chowan Belch Jr., and nieces Kathryn Belch Perry and Maricoleman
Etheridge Cooper.

Jack was a lifetime member of Saint Thomas Episcopal Church in Windsor,
NC where he served as Senior Warden, Junior Warden, chalice bearer,
acolyte and choir member. He served in the US Coast Guard Reserves for
7 ½ years. He was a member of the American Legion in Windsor, where,
until recently, he served as its chaplain, and a member of Charity Lodge #5
in Windsor. He managed Spruill Farms Inc. for 22 years and most recently
worked at Avoca Farms, both of which is where he made many of his
closest friends.

Jack loved family, fishing, golf, cutting grass and Balgra, his home.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Saint Thomas Episcopal
Church in Windsor NC on Saturday, August 8th at 11:00 A.M.
