Obituary

Dateline: Williamston, NC

JoAnne Garrett Hughes passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to her family and all creatures great and small.

JoAnne found beauty in the simple joys of life. She loved flowers, especially peonies, whose beauty and grace reflected her own gentle spirit. She looked forward to each season, but Christmas held a special place in her heart. She delighted in making every holiday memorable for her children, filling her home with warmth, traditions, laughter, and love. The magic she created during the Christmas season became cherished memories that her family will carry with them forever.

JoAnne never met an animal in need that she could turn away. Throughout her life, she opened her home and her heart to countless animals, providing them with care, comfort, and unconditional love. Her compassion for God's creatures was evident in the many lives she touched, both human and animal alike.

For 47 years, JoAnne shared a beautiful marriage with her beloved husband, Eddie. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and faithfulness. They especially enjoyed traveling to the mountains, where they found peace in the beauty of nature and treasured time spent together exploring all the mountains had to offer. Their enduring partnership was a testament to their deep love and commitment to one another.

While JoAnne was naturally a quiet and somewhat reserved person, she deeply loved her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose care and concern for those she loved never wavered. Her presence brought comfort, encouragement, and joy, and her family always knew they could count on her steady love and support.

Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her family finds comfort in the many memories she created and the love she freely gave throughout her life.

JoAnne's legacy lives on in her family, in every animal she rescued and nurtured, in every holiday tradition she lovingly created, and in the countless lives she touched with her kindness. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
