Dateline: Windsor, NC

Ms. Janet Staples Worthington, long time resident of Taylor St., passed away peacefully Wednesday evening April 2, 2025 surrounded by family.

Janet was born on September 9, 1955 to parents Earline and Tommie Staples. She grew up in Camden ,NC before the family moved to Ahoskie, NC. As a child, Janet enjoyed creating mischief, playing with dolls, and visiting the beach with family. As an adult she had a love of adventure and enjoyed going to concerts any chance she got.

Janet graduated from college of the Albermarle with an associates degree in nursing. She worked in nursing and mental health for twenty-five plus years before retiring.

Janet was proceeded in death by both of her loving parents, her beloved husband "Bo" Worthington, and her older sister Mary Staples Chambers.

Left to cherish Janet's memory is her sister Sue Staples Vinson, her nephew John Long, niece Allison Gupton, great nephews Daniel Long, Billy Long, and Justin Thompson; great nieces Meghan Powell, Kasey Stroud Woolard, and Olivia Long; and a host of nieces ,nephews, cousins, and friends held dear to her heart.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 5, 2025 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, located at 302 S. Queen Street in Windsor, NC. A reception for family and friends will follow the service in the church parish hall.
