Mr. James 'Buddy' Woodrow Hux, age 79, a resident of Circle Drive, Hamilton passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026, at The Service League of Greenville Hospice House.

Buddy was born to Claude Woodrow Hux and Lydia Lenora Hollis Hux on June 2,1946 in Tarboro, NC. After his schooling he served his country in the US Navy and later married the former Peggy Hale and they had many good years until her passing in 2017. Buddy worked for Alamac Knit Fabrics Inc. and later for Sara Lee as a boiler room operator and was a member of Hassel Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church and the American Legion. In his spare time, he enjoyed crossword puzzles, Guns, History and vegetable gardening.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother in-law James Snead.

Serving to cherish his memory are two sisters: Carol H. Snead of Raleigh, and Cathy J. Hux of Williamston; two stepdaughters: Angela Wynne (Bruce) of Robersonville, and Sherry Baker (Wesley) of Williamston; one stepson, Richard Thomas of Texas; other survivors include: six step-grandchildren, and seven step great-grandchildren, and his special canine companion Abby.

A celebration of Buddy's life will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, in the chapel of Walker Funeral Home, Williamston at 2:00 PM with Reverend Brad Crumpler officiating. Military Honors will be rendered. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at Hamilton Cemetery.
