Dateline: Williamston
James Leo Hollis went to his heavenly home on December 29, 2023. Leo was born January 7, 1928, and was 95 years old at the time of his death. Leo was the only child of Chester and Courtney Hollis who predeceased him. He married Rosalie Hardison on February 11, 1950, and they have shared over 73 years of marriage. This will be a big adjustment for Rosalie, but she has a very good support group who will be there for her.
Leo was baptized and joined Cedar Grove F.W.B. Church in 1950. He worked for Taylor's Mayola Dairy in 1951-1952. His next job was at Olin Mathison Fertilizer Corporation Plant from 1953-1966. Sears Roebuck & Co. was his next endeavor where he worked as a service repairman 1967-1977 and then as a contract repairman 1977-mid 1980's. In later years he served as the Martin County Airport manager before he finally retired. During most of this working career he was also farming, raising hogs, and running his own welding Shop.
Leo and Rosalie raised 5 sons: Donald (Leyta) of Williamston, Lane (Sharon) of Greenville, Shane (Joan) of Williamston, Duane of Louisburg, and Warner (Cindi) of Williamston. From these 5 sons they have 8 grandchildren: Jody (Angela) Hollis, Coleby (Lynn) Hollis, Sarah Hollis, Brandon Hollis, Courtney Hollis, Dustin (Sarah) Hollis, Jeana Hollis, and Jason Hollis. He also leaves 4 great-grandchildren: Cora Hollis, Evan Hollis, Nathan Hollis, and Laramie Hollis.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Martin Memorial Gardens with Rev. Danny Barrow officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
