James Andrew Dickens, III., 53 of S. Queen St., died Friday, August 26, 2022 at ECU Health Bertie Hospital.

James was born on January 15, 1969 in Hampton, VA, to the late James Andrew Dickens II and Peggy Connor Dickens.  He was an Automotive Instructor with Bertie County Schools and member of Cashie Baptist Church. James loved to coach his girls in softball and loved playing golf. In his younger years he was an avid basketball player.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Perry Dickens of the home; daughters, Lindsey, Reagan and Lauren Dickens of the home; sisters, Lynn Pierce of Kansas City, KS, Betty Ann Dickens of VA, Kellie Grogg of Concord, NC and Deanna Davenport of NC.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Cashie Baptist Church with Rev. Stafford Beasley officiating. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM at the funeral home and other times from the home.
