James Oscar Copeland, Jr. 81, of Grabtown Road, passed away Monday, July 10, 2023.

He was born in Bertie County, August 24, 1941, to the late James Oscar and Linda Ward Copeland and was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy       Ayscue Copeland; son, James Lee Copeland; sisters, Jennette Floyd and Ella Frances Copeland Cummings,  James was a member of the Windsor Assembly of God and a truck driver with Shavender Trucking. He was a highly regarded boat racer and truck puller. He loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Walker Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. J.R. Thomas will officiate. Entombment will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.  The Family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 1-2 PM and at other times from James' home on Grabtown Road.

He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Copeland Mulder, and husband Andy of Colerain; sisters, Mary Beck and Barbara Dail of Shallotte; granddaughter, Haley Williams of Colerain.
