Henry Douglas Lewis, Jr., 86, of Village Ave., died Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at his home. He was born in Hertford County September 18, 1935, to the late Henry Douglas and Nellie Gray Lewis and was predeceased by his wife, Betty Jane Early Lewis; brothers, Richard, Connelly and Daniel Lewis and a granddaughter Wanda Rawls. Henry drove a bread truck for Tip-Top and Merita Bread Company's and after retirement he drove for Byrum Logging. He loved trucking, his grandchildren and NASCAR. Mr. Lewis served in the Army National Guard.

A graveside funeral service will be held Friday April 29, 2022, at 10:00 AM in Edgewood Cemetery. Rev. Keith Moore will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery and later from their home 19 Village Ave.

Survivors include his daughters, Sue Brabble (Floyd) of Ahoskie, Ann Rawls (James) of Williamston; son, Doug Lewis (Kay) of Washington; sister, Polly Phelps of Wilmington; grandchildren, Dougie Lewis, Melissa Lewis, Dustin Whitehead, Wanda Rawls, Allen Rawls; great grandchildren, Anthony Flannelly and Aniyah Winborne.
