Helen Moore Coburn passed away at age 91 at Chowan Vidant Hospital June 21, 2019.  Born May 7, 1928 in Martin County and was the next to the youngest of 9 siblings.  She was the daughter of the late Claude and Lula Johnson Moore.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elisha Edward Coburn and her daughter Joyce Coburn Reason and daughter-in-law Elaine D. Coburn.

She is survived by her three children Ronald Coburn, William Coburn and wife Connie, Diane Charles and husband Tommy.  She was a grandmother to Mark Coburn and wife Elise, Melissa Childs and husband Carter, Jennifer Kravitz and husband Robert, Colin Charles and wife Azusa, Erin Salter and husband Rob, Nikki Walker and husband Josh, Preston Charles and wife April. She had 11 great grandchildren and two more due this year.

She helped her husband on the farm until she went to work at Roses Dime Store in Windsor.  From there she worked for most of 28 years at Popes Variety Store as assistant manager then to manager of the store.  She loved family get togethers and cherished her family so much nothing brought her more joy than being around the children and their families.

She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church and was a vacation Bible School Director for many years there.

The family will receive friends at Walker Funeral Home-Windsor Sunday, June 23, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM and from other times at the home place, 104 Coburn Road, Windsor.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Walker Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jim Cox and the Rev. Al Mizelle.  Burial will follow at the Coburn Family Cemetery.
