Hartwell "Wayne" Alston, 68 of Republican Rd., died Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at his home.

Wayne was born on July 22, 1953, in Bertie County to the late William Hartwell and Gertie Rawls Alston. He graduated from Bertie High School and was self-employed in agriculture.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Duffy Alston of the home; daughter, Ashley Gail Dailey and husband James Adam of Danville, VA; brothers, Joel Alston and wife Teresa and William Timothy Alston and wife Benita, all of Windsor; sisters, Gail Mills and husband Larry of Williamston and Debra Lynn Harden and husband Ronnie of Windsor; grandchildren, James Alston Dailey, and Liza Britt Dailey; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at 2:00 PM at the Walker Funeral Chapel with Rev. Roger Leggett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
