Harriett Pearce White, 92, of East Askewville Street, died Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.  She was born in Hertford County, May 20. 1928 to the late Samuel Ruffin and Bessie Cherry Pearce  and was predeceased by her husband, S Truett White, son Rev. Keith White and wife Sue; son-in-law, Milton Basnight and 7 siblings.  Harriett was a member of Askewville Baptist Church.  She loved her flowers and to cook.  She was a member of the crochet class at the senior citizen center as well as the crochet class at the church.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 2:30 PM at the Askewville Baptist Church.  Rev. Zach Hicks will officiate.  The family will receive friends at the church at 1:30 PM until funeral time. Burial will follow the service at Edgewood Cemetery.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy White Basnight of Askewville; grandson, Greg Basnight and his wife Carol of Greenville; brothers, Merritt "Bike" Pearce and Ed Pearce both of Chesapeake, VA.
