Hallet Allen "A.W." Wilson of Ahoskie passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026 at the age of 79.

Allen was preceded in death by the love of his life, Alice. Together they were the very definition of opposites attracting. They were fiercely devoted throughout their 37 years of marriage, balancing and bringing out the best in one another. The family finds comfort in knowing they are once again in each other's company.

Allen enjoyed boxing, fast cars, and fast boats in his younger years. As he grew older he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and hanging out with the boys, swapping stories and reliving adventures from years past. Most evenings found him settled in his smoking room enjoying "M&M" time or watching his favorite cowboy shows.

Allen will be remembered for his quick wit, easygoing nature, and gift for making friends wherever life took him. Through his work in industrial construction, he and Alice traveled and formed friendships across the country.

In addition to Alice, Allen was preceded in death by his brothers Vernon Wilson and Larry Wilson. Allen is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Nick and Melissa Wilson; grandchildren Jackson and Lauren Wilson; sisters Barbara Roberson, Gail Holloman, and Rita Jones; and numerous friends and loved ones whose lives were brighter for having known him.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 23 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Colerain, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Allen's memory to the American Cancer Society.
