Gloria Robertson Spruill 91, of Wildcat Road, died Saturday, July 18, 2020 at home.  She was born in Martin County September 12, 1928 to the late Rosa Gray Holliday and Raymond A. Robertson, Sr. and was predeceased by her husband, Winfield Scott Spruill in 1956; a brother, Raymond A. Robertson, Jr. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Williamston Chapter of the Eastern Star.  Gloria attended Kirby School of Cosmetology in Norfolk VA.  She owned and operated a beauty shop in her home in Williamston.  After the death of husband, "Buddy," she opened Spruill's Beauty Shop in Windsor, NC.  With twenty-five years of experience in cosmetology, she applied for a teaching position in cosmetology at Bertie High School. Gloria was one of the first cosmetologists in the state to teach both black and white hair culture.  After ten years of service she retired from the Bertie County School System and opened East Coast Trophy Shop in the early 80's and operated it until 2009.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Noon at the Walker Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. J. N. Baggett will officiate.  Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Survivors include her three sons, Joe Spruill and wife Kathy, Stuart Spruill and wife Teresa all of Williamston, Dr. Richard Spruill and wife Lisa of Grimesland; sisters, Lucy Raper of Williamston, Nancy Peed of Aulander, Janice Dunn and husband John of Edenton; brothers, Larry Robertson of Rocky Mount, Gerald Robertson and wife Betty Francis of Raleigh; grandchildren, Austin Spruill (Emily), Scott Spruill (Kathleen Orphanos), Alexander Winfield Spruill, Anna Lisa Spruill, Kim Wray (Chris), Beth Wynne (Keith) great grandchildren, Will Chappell, Christopher Wray, Kaleb Wynne, Kaylee Wynne, Falcon Winfield Spruill and Rexfeazer Amlic Spruill.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 22 ^nd at Walker Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until Noon, at the home of Stuart Spruill at other times.
