George Hillary White, 83 of 106 W. Askewville St. died Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at his home.

Mr. White was born on August 12, 1935 in Bertie County to the late Obie Dunlow White and Helen Twine White. He was a retired supervisor with Lea Lumber Company and had worked with the Town of Askewville. He was preceded in death by a brother Reynold White and two sisters, Sylvia White Perry and Bernice White Whitley. Mr. White was a member of the Askewville Assembly of God Church and was an avid fisherman.

Survivors include; wife, Sophie Hoggard White of the home; daughter, Rose Marie White Johnson of Windsor; brother, Wilton White of Windsor; sister, Joan White Miller of Windsor; grandson, Allen Johnson (Leslie) of Windsor; granddaughter, Crystal D. Johnson; great grandson Taden Skylar Prezell.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM at the Askewville Assembly of God with Rev. Buddy Denton officiating. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and other times from the home.
