Arlene Manning 83, of Charlie Manning Road, died Wednesday January 16, 2019 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville.  She was born in Pitt County October 12, 1935 to the late Lillie James Manning and Charlie Leslie Manning, Sr. and was predeceased by brothers, Laddie Manning, Charlie L. Manning Jr.; sisters Lona Manning, Ruby Phillips and Mary James Sexton; special friend Dean Whitehurst; sister-in-law, Mary Louise Manning and brothers-in-law Floyd Phillips, Joe Rawls and Ben Howser. Arlene taught school and was a supervisor of teachers in early childhood in the Martin County School System for 35 plus years. She graduated from East Carolina University and received her advanced degrees from UNC at Chapel Hill.  She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, the Bethel United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Funeral services will be held Saturday January 19, 2019 at 12:00 Noon in the Bethel United Methodist Church.  Rev. Dennis Peay will officiate.  The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service (11:00 AM until Noon).  Burial will follow the service in the Bethel Cemetery.

Survivors include her sisters, Valeria Rawls and Lona Howser; nephews, Lee Manning, Dr. Scott Rawls and Chuck Howser; nieces, Carol Davis, Carla Peedin, Kim Mills Evans and Joan Sexton Campbell; brother-in-law, Fred Sexton; sister-in-law Janie Manning; many great nieces and nephews and many great great nieces and nephews.
