Esther Louise Duckwall, 81, of Harris St., died Sunday October 16, 2022, at her home.

Esther was born on January 20, 1941, in Martin County to the late Andrew Jackson and Esther Beecham Modlin. She was retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Esther was a member of the Williamston First Pentecostal Holiness Church. She enjoyed painting, arts and crafts and enjoyed times with family and friends. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Cynthia Walston and Patricia O'Neal and a sister, Betty Ann Modlin.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Duckwall of the home; son, Richard Allen Duckwall of Washington; sisters, Brenda Wells of Williamston, Judy Roberson of Hamilton and Linda Edmondson of Williamston; brothers, Danny Modlin, Randall Modlin and Doug Modlin all of Williamston; grandchildren, Victoria Moore, Elizabeth Walston, Christy Stalls, John O'Neil, Dustin Duckwall, Erica Henderson and Danielle Hubers; great grandchildren, 16.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 3:00 PM at the Williamston First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Roger Leggett officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the church and other times from the home.
