Mrs. Emma Lassiter Bracy, 86, gained heavenly wings on March 6, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Thomas "Jaybird" Bracy, Sr. and her parents, Bertram and Doris Lassiter, along with many other family members and friends. The celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 9th at 2:00 pm at the Aulander Cemetery.
Mrs. Emma was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her six children: Cynthia Harris of Powell's Point; Billy Bracy and wife, Beverly, of Askewville; James Thomas "Tommy" Bracy, Jr. and wife, Ashley, of Ahoskie; Michael Bracy and wife, Kristie, of Holly Ridge; Chris Bracy and wife, April, of Williamston; Janae Copeland and husband, Bryant, of Clemmons. She was "Nana" to her grandchildren: Ashley Renkosiak and husband, Tom; Maggie Dawson; Casey Johnson, and husband, Bruce; Amy Hoggard, and husband, George; Paul Stocks, Landon Bracy; Jordyn Bracy; Graysin Bracy; Carter Bracy and wife, Maddie; Kennedy Easley and husband, Travis; Aiden Hudson; Lauren Bracy; Jayda Copeland; Brynn Copeland; Clark Copeland and her greatgrandchildren: Scarlett Renkosiak, Thomas Dawson, Lee Johnson, Millie Johnson, Trevor Williams, and Kiley Sanders.
She spent her career as a secretary at Aulander Elementary School, Aulander Baptist Church, and the Town of Kelford, before her retirement. She took pride in the relationships she built with the people in the communities in which she served. She was also dedicated to serving in her faith and spent many years teaching Sunday school and serving in many other volunteer roles at Aulander Baptist Church. Later in her life, she became a member of the Askewville Assembly of God church near her home.
The Bracy family would like to give special thanks to the staff and friends at Three Rivers Nursing Home in Windsor for their love and care of Mrs. Emma and her family over the past 4 years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests an honorary donation be made to the Hospice organization of your choice.
