Dorothy Jernigan Mizelle 89, of Askewville-Evans Street, died Monday, January 7, 2019 at her son's home in Chesapeake VA.  She was born in Bertie County December 10, 1929 to the late A. D. and Eva Harrison Jernigan and predeceased by her husband, Elwood Gussie Mizelle; brother, A. D. Jernigan, Jr. and her sister, Muriel Perry. Dorothy was member of Askewville Baptist Church where she served as the custodian for many years.

Funeral services will be held Thursday January 10, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Askewville Baptist Church.  Rev. Zach Hicks will officiate.  Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery, Windsor.

Survivors include her daughter, Marie Hoggard of Williamston; sons, Tommy Mizelle and wife, Mary of Askewville, Johnny Mizelle and wife, Tammy Lynn of Chesapeake, VA; sister, Annie Elizabeth Casper of Colerain; grandchildren, April Bracy (Chris), Michelle Hoggard, Jason and Catlin Mizelle, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Cross (Dennis) Krystal Lynn Mizelle; great grandchildren, Aiden Hudson and Lauren Bracy.

The family will receive friends Wednesday January 9 ^th from 6-7:30 PM at Walker Funeral Home, Windsor and from the home of Tommy and Mary Mizelle, 125 Askewville-Evans Street, Windsor, NC.  Memorial gifts may be made to the Askewville Baptist Church, 110 Askewville Street, Windsor, NC 27983.
