Dorothy Mae Jernigan Hoggard, 87, a resident of the Edenton House Nursing Home and formerly of 1110 Bull Hill Road, died Thursday October 29, 2020.  She was born in Bertie County, February 17, 1933 to the late Henry Lloyd and Ella Wynns Jernigan.  Dorothy was married to her late husband, Joseph "Shine" Hoggard in 1951 and predeceased by a son, Joey Hoggard.  She was a member of Ross Baptist, a member of the WMU, and Tommy Johnson's Ladies Sunday School class.  Dorothy loved Christmas, was a great cook and avid reader.  Her love for her husband and family was unmatched.

A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Ross Baptist Church Cemetery.  Rev. Dr. Jeffery Russell will officiate.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia H. Collis and husband Jerry of Merry Hill; son, Paul Hoggard and wife Cathy of Edenton; grandchildren, Brian Collis, Luke Hoggard, Landen Hoggard and Errol Hood.
