Ms. Dorothy Jean Bailey Rogerson, a resident of Bear Grass, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Service Inpatient Hospice of Greenville after a brief illness.

A graveside funeral service will held at 11:30 AM Friday, June 28, 2024 at Woodlawn Cemetery with Pastor Bill Groce officiating. The family will receive friends at Walker Funeral Home, 414 N. Haughton Street, from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM and travel in procession to the grave.

Ms. Dorothy was born on December 13, 1937 to the late Alma Whitehurst Bailey and James Bailey. She was a graduate of Bear Grass High School, and later married to Aubrey Rogerson who preceded her in death. She was a member of Rose of Sharon Original Free Will Baptist Church, and loved gardening, cleaning, cooking, and her flowers. Dorothy also worked as a lunchroom manager at Williamston High School for many years.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Shelton Rogerson, and two sisters, Myrtle Hodges, and Faye Gurganus. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Betty Sue Harrell (James) of Bear Grass, one sister, Jeanette Taylor of Bear Grass; two brothers: Wayne Bailey, and Earl Bailey (Judy), and two grandchildren, Karen Harrell (Bud) and Randy Harrell, all of Bear Grass.
