Doris Jean Mizelle, 91, of Exter Road, passed away Tuesday, December 6,2022 at her home.  She was born in Norfolk, VA to the late Eley and Gladys Jernigan Mizelle and was predeceased by her husband of over sixty three years, Ronald Mizelle; a son, Stevie Mizelle; brothers, Fentress Mizelle and Donald Lee Mizelle.

Doris was a hard worker all of her life.  She worked at a sewing factory, ran a general store with her husband, farmed, gardened and cared for her children and grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Elm Grove Baptist Church.  She loved her church and church family

Funeral services will be held Friday December 9. 2022 at 2:30 PM at Elm Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Preston Jernigan will officiate. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Walker Funeral Home.

Survivors include her daughter, Rhonda Mizelle Riddick, grandchildren, Dave Mizelle, Suzanne Riddick and Ben Riddick; great grandchildren, Rebecca Mizelle and Drew Mizelle; sister, Jeanette Barmer; daughter-in-law Dottie Mizelle, step-grandchildren, Danny Bullard, Athena Price, Chris Bullard and many special nieces and nephews.
