Doris Belle Suis Hughes, age 90, a resident of Bakertown Road passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, August 14, 2025. Doris was born on June 18, 1935, to John and Virginia Byrum Suis. Doris was a graduate of Colerain High School and later married Raleigh Frank Hughes who preceded her in death. Doris worked for the Spruill Oil Company as a bookkeeper for many years and was a member of Capehart's Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, spending time at the river with her family, playing games and watching the sporting events her great granddaughters took part in.
Doris was predeceased by her husband, her parents; sons: Raleigh Frank Hughes Jr. and Jock Vincent Hughes, a brother Mike Suis, sister, Joan Evans, great granddaughter, Madelynn Phelps and a Sister-in-Law, Linda Baker.
Doris is survived by sons, Jed Hughes( Ellen), Jim Hughes (Drew); a daughter, Kim Hughes Baker (Frank); grandchildren: Kelly Phelps (Martin), Frank Baker Jr. (Arielle), Jed Hughes Jr. (Elizabeth), Kyle Hughes (Brook), Rachel and Virgina Hughes, Tom Hughes, Tabitha Wagner (Ed), Noah Cauley, Lili Lankford; great grandchildren: Riley, Sydney, Paisley, and Aubrey Phelps, Colby and Kendall Baker, Jaxson, Asher, Ava, and Josephine Hughes, Avy, Vincent, and Rutger Wagner, Grady Bright, a great-great granddaughter, Divana McCracken and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, August 17, 2025 at Capehart's Baptist Church starting at 2:00 PM with pastors, Wil Hoggard and Ben Bunch officiating. The following will serve as pallbearers: Charles Whitehead, Phil Baker, Darryl Hoggard, Frank Bunch, TK Warren III and Riley Clements. Burial to follow in Capehart's Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the home.
