Donnie Welford
Dunlow Sr.
Aug 2, 1940 — Jul 6, 2026
Windsor
Windsor, NC
With profound sadness and loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Donnie Dunlow, Sr., who peacefully entered into eternal rest on July 6, 2026. While our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the countless memories, the unconditional love he shared, and the legacy he leaves behind.
Donnie was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a man of quiet strength, a kind heart, and unwavering love for his family. He believed that life's greatest blessings were found in the people you love and the simple moments you share together.
He leaves behind his beloved sons, Donnie Dunlow, Jr. (Kelly) and Kevin Dunlow (Samantha).
He was a proud grandfather to Donnie Dunlow III (Terra), Mandy Dunlow (Lucas), and Henri Dunlow. He also lovingly welcomed his step-grandchildren, Kelsey Summerlin (Corben) and John-Michael Evans (Lexi) into his heart. He was further blessed with 11 great-grandchildren, who brought endless joy, laughter, and pride to his life.
He also leaves behind Brenda Davidson, whom he loved with all his heart. Their love was a beautiful blessing, filled with laughter, companionship, and countless treasured memories. She brought so much happiness to his life, and the bond they shared will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved them.
Donnie is also survived by his loving siblings: Marigold Shubitowski, of Baltimore, Maryland; Ruth Allen (Huey), of Wendell, North Carolina; Jackie Dunlow, of Ahoskie, North Carolina; and Lannie Dunlow (Faye) of Windsor, North Carolina.
Donnie was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 25 years, Dotsie Dunlow. Though many years have passed since her passing, the love they shared remained a treasured part of his heart.
He was also preceded in death by his beloved parents, Rassie Dunlow and Chester Leary Dunlow, and his siblings: Ellis Dunlow, Elsie Dunlow Todd, Vera Dunlow Hojnacki, Chester Dunlow Pierce, Rassie Willis Dunlow, Elizabeth Dunlow Burch, Dutie Dunlow, and Pete Dunlow.
Donnie found his greatest peace on his farm, where he loved working the land and enjoying the simple beauty of country life. He loved line dancing, and if there was music playing, there was a good chance you would find him smiling on the dance floor. Above all else, Donnie treasured time spent with the people he loved. His gentle spirit, warm smile, and caring heart touched countless lives and will never be forgotten.
Though our hearts ache with his passing, we take comfort in knowing that his love, laughter, and legacy will live on through the generations of family he cherished so dearly. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
A visitation will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at Walker Funeral Home in Windsor, North Carolina. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Donnie's life, honor his memory, and share in the love he leaves behind.
"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions… I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." — John 14:1–3 (KJV)
