It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mr. Dennis Clayton Pierce, Sr, age 71, of Ballard Road, Williamston, who passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 17, 2026, with his family by his side at his home.

Mr. Dennis was born June 27, 1954, in Suffolk, Virginia to Leona Gertrude James Pierce and David Clinton Pierce. He attended Oak City High School. Dennis owned and operated his trucking business for fifty years. He was known as "Crackerbox" and later worked for Brent Roberson Contractor for a year and a half; he loved spending his spare time with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Dennis also enjoyed fishing, hunting, sports cars, and watching his favorite tv shows The Dukes of Hazzard and Andy Griffith.

Mr. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Leona and David Pierce, his three brothers: John Pierce, David Pierce, and Lelsie Pierce. He is survived by his wife Annette Grace Pierce, four children: Pattie Louise Pierce Harrell Davis (Eddie) of Washington, Dennis Clayton Pierce, Jr. (Lindsay Goupil), of Williamston, John David Pierce of Williamston, Leon Gray Pierce of Williamston; and his sister, Elizabeth "Libby" Pierce Whitaker (Jay) of Williamston; ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday June 23, 2026, in the chapel of Walker Funeral Home of Williamston, with Pastor Larry Lilley officiating. The burial will follow in Spring Green Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Sammy Roberson, James Gardner, Jerry Thomas, Scott Bullock, Chris Reyes and Jay Whitaker.

The family will receive friends on Monday June 22, 2026, from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM at Walker Funeral Home- Williamston and other times at home.
