Debra Spivey Jernigan 66, of Coral Lane, died Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville.  She was born in Bertie County June 22, 1953 to the late Shirley White Spivey and Robert "Bob" Spivey.  Debra was a loving mother and friend.  She spent her professional career as an elementary school teacher, retiring from Windsor Elementary. Following retirement her interest in art grew and she began to paint. She loved her family, extended family and friends.

Survivors include her daughters, Ashley Beacham and husband Ashley of Elizabeth City, Bridget Riggs of Charlotte; sister, Gwen White and husband Tom of Kill Devil Hills; brother, Lowell Spivey of Kitty Hawk; her beloved father, Robert B. Spivey of Windsor; grandchildren; Brandon and Brittany Brock and Miles Beacham and great grandchild, Harley Brock; close loving friend, Len Southerland of Edenton.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
