David Carlton Cobb, age 80, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 18, 2019. A celebration of his life will be held Friday June 21, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Askewville Baptist Church with Reverend Zach Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends Thursday June 20 th from 6-7:30 PM at Walker Funeral Home and from the home at other times.
David was born in Bertie County on October 19, 1938 to the late Clyde Vernon and Virginia Phelps Cobb of Woodard. He was an active member of Askewville Baptist Church and served as a church deacon. David worked for 43 years for the former Gillam Brothers. He was a retired firefighter with the Askewville Volunteer Fire Department and served on the Bertie County Rescue Squad.
In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his brother, Roy Vernon Cobb; son, Kenneth Carlton Cobb; Grandson, Kenneth Carlton Cobb, II, and Great-grandsons, David Robert Cobb and Ryan Keith Terry. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Christine White Cobb; brother, Warren Cobb of Windsor, NC; brother, Joseph Cobb of Windsor, NC; son, David Scott Cobb of Windsor, NC; daughter, Virginia Cobb Jenkins of Windsor, NC; Grandchildren, Brad Terry of Washington, D.C., Christy Dozier and husband Chris of Windsor, NC, Holley Taylor and husband David of Charleston, SC, Robert Cobb and wife Carolyn of Windsor, NC; Great-grandchildren: Olivia Terry, Levi Dozier, Elliot Taylor, Myles Dozier, Neeva Terry, John Cobb, and Hannah Cobb; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and special extended family members, Karen Todd Dunn, Skip and Darlene Dunlow, and Cheyenne Cameron.
