Obituary

Dateline: Windsor, NC

David L. Bunch, "Bubba," 72, of Robert St. Windsor passed away peacefully at home with his daughters by his side, after a brief and unexpected illness.

David retired as the Agency Manager of Bertie County Farm Bureau after a 33-year long career with the company. Years ago, he served as past president of the Falcon Club for Bertie High School. He enjoyed keeping stats for varsity football and involved himself in the local Babe Ruth International Youth Baseball League. David was passionate about cooking and volunteered his time regularly to cook for the local Veterans Club. David served as past president of Cashie Country Club where he was a member and avid golfer.

Upon his retirement, only a short time passed before he wanted to go back to work, this time, turning his love of golf into a way to occupy his time and enjoy retirement even more. For as long as he was able to, he worked in the pro shop at Occano golf course where he enjoyed the game and the camaraderie and friendships he made on and off the course.

David was humble, never seeking credit or accolades from others. And from the young age of 12, he worked. David had a remarkable work ethic, which he instilled in his daughters. He will be greatly missed for his advice, wisdom, tough love, and unwavering support.

David enjoyed fresh- and saltwater fishing sometimes, too. He said some of his fondest memories were of camping with his family and friends at a campground in Manteo, NC when his children were young. Those who are left here to cherish his memory will remember his love for the outdoors, golf, the ocean, family and friends.

David was predeceased 20 years ago by his loving wife of 34 years Joy Mizelle Bunch. He was the son of the late Leslie Winston Bunch and Ruby Peele Bunch; and was predeceased by his sister, Phyllis Bunch Copeland (Woody).

David is survived by his daughters Mitzi Bunch Jordan of Merry Hill and Amanda Joy Bunch of Carrboro; granddaughter Hannah Elizabeth Jordan, and great granddaughter Cleo Jordan Gaddy, both of Cary; brother Jerry Winston Bunch and sister Sheran Bunch White (Greg), both of Colerain; nieces and nephews; and significant other Carolyn Jordan of the home.
