Rev. David Ray Baker, 74, of Windsor, NC, was promoted to Heaven on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Inpatient Hospice of Greenville, NC. He was born in Windsor, NC on November 19, 1950 to the late Earl Roland and Emaline Hoggard Baker. David was the pastor of Perrytown Assembly of God for 15 years. He was a devoted member of Windsor Assembly of God. He served the Lord as a Royal Ranger Commander, a Deacon, a Sunday School teacher, and preached the Word in many different churches when called upon. He served as Chaplain for Perrytown Fire Department for 20 years. Serving as Chaplain of the Perrytown Fire Department was one of his great honors.  David served in the NC National Guard for six years. He owned and operated Perdue chicken houses and enjoyed working for Blackrock Farms. David spent some of his free time restoring old cars. One of his ventures was restoring a 1938 Oldsmobile. He ingeniously included electric seats from a modern day SUV. His latest project was a 1946 Dodge Business Coupe. And, if you gave him a few minutes, he would tell you about them.

David used his battle with cancer to share his love for Jesus with fellow patients and health care providers. He never met a stranger and used every opportunity to share his love of Jesus with others. He often asked, "Do you love Jesus?" and "Do you know my friend, Jesus?". He often told people, "I will meet you at the corner of Pearl and Emerald."

Family and friends will be gathered for a Memorial service to celebrate his life on Saturday, February 8, at Windsor Assembly of God at 11 AM.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Sherry Jethro Baker; a daughter, Denice White (Allen); a son, Daniel Baker; sisters, Frances Baker Simmons and Patsy Baker McClellan (David); grandchildren, Katilyn Hoggard (Colton), Andrew Hoggard (Cheyenne), Andrea Hoggard, Ethan Hoggard, Aubrey Baker, Jessica White, Cindy Gibbs (Bryan), and David White: Great grandchildren, Bryan, Landen, and Sarah; several nieces and nephews, and his adopted sister, Joyce Evans Baker and his faithful cousin TJ Baker.
