Clyde Monroe Anders, Sr., of S. King St., died Monday January 29, 2024, at ECU Health North Hospital in Greenville.
Clyde was born on December 14, 1935, in Pickens County, SC, to the late Alvin Sherman and Dassie Smith Anders. He retired as an electrician, owning his own business for nearly 30 years, Clyde's Electric. Clyde was a member of Siloam Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He served in the National Guard and was an avid gardener who loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Clyde was preceded in death by the love of his life, Peggy Thomas Anders whom he married on November 5, 1955; a son, Clyde M. Anders, Jr.; two daughters-in-law, Bettie H. Anders and Rosa W. Anders; son-in-law, Rev. Alan Mizelle; brother, Harold Anders and sister, Hellen Mullinex.
Survivors include his sons, Danny Anders of Windsor and Alex Anders of Windsor; daughter, Brenda Anders Mizelle of Windsor; brothers, Robert Anders of Rockwell, SC and Don Anders of Camden, SC; sisters, Jane Prudan (Mike) of Roxobel, Thelma Briley of Roxobel, Ruby Bristow of Kelford, Della Lewis of Kelford, Linda Baker (Ron) of Reidsville, Shelby Martin (Larry) of Philpot, KY; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Walker Funeral Chapel, with Bradley Phelps officiating. A private interment will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. The following will serve as pallbearers: Steven Anders, Eric Anders, Justin Pittman, Billy Anders, Matthew Anders, and Adam Anders.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service and other times from the home. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson's Foundation,1359 Broadway, Ste 1509, New York, NY 10018.
