Christopher "Chuck" Johnson, Sr. 63, of Askewville, Bertie County, NC passed away Monday, February 2, 2026, in Hertford County, NC. He was born on April 28, 1962, in Bertie County, NC to Billie Conn and Linda Harden Johnson. Chuck graduated from Bertie High School in 1981. He then married his best friend Marlene Stocks in 1981. Chuck loved life and loved to be around people. He never knew a stranger. He loved to farm and be outside, he also raised Perdue chickens. He was a retired Fireman from Askewville Volunteer Fire Department and he loved his family most of all.

He is survived by his wife Marlene of 44 years; a son, Christopher Johnson Jr. "Peter" and wife Kaela; grandchildren; C. Wade Johnson and Walker A. Johnson; parents, Billie and Linda Johnson; sister, Melinda Eure and husband Andy and a brother, McConn Johnson and wife Brandy, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at the Walker Funeral Home-chapel in Windsor on Thursday, February 5, 2025, at 2:00 PM with Pastor Zach Hicks and Pastor Josh Morris officiating. Music will be provided by Darlene Dunlow. A private burial will follow for the family.

The family will receive friends briefly following the service and other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Askewville Fire Department.
