Mr. Charlie James Whitfield Jr., age 82, a resident of Tarboro, died Saturday July 28, 2018 at Vidant Impatient Hospice of Greenville.  Charlie was born November 6, 1935 to the late Charlie James Whitfield Sr. and Ida Mae Coward Whitfield; he retired from the town of Bethel after many years, and enjoyed his car collection.

Survivors inlude his wife Hazel Davenport Whitfield, three daughters Becky Webb of Bethel, Cathy Warren of Robersonville, and Connie Mobley of Williamston, two sons Jamie Whitfield of Robersonville, and William Ray Whitfield of Ayden, two sisters Pauline Scott of Tarboro, and MaryJane Matthews of Hobgood. Seven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, and one sister.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Heritage F.W.B. Church in Bethel with Bro. Walter Summerlin officiating. Burial will be held in Bethel Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Delmus Warren, James Warren, Randy Mobley, Jamie Whitfield, Christopher Williams, Billy Wynne, Allen Rogerson, and Dylan Hardison.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made towards the funeral bill to Walker Funeral Home, PO Box 456 Windsor, NC 27983.
