Mr. Charles Ray Leggett, 96, of Williamston went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Roanoke River Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.

A private service will be held at Martin Memorial Gardens at a later date.

Mr. Charles was born on June 28, 1929, to Bernice Allen and Jasper Hugh Leggett. He served in the Army for two years, later he married the love of his life for sixty-seven years to Doris Lilley Leggett until her death. Mr. Charles was a man who loved the outdoors; he loved to fish, hunt, gardening, cutting wood, and his church but his favorite was spending time with his children, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.

Mr. Charles was predeceased by his parents; wife, Doris Lilley Leggett; brother, Bud Leggett, and two sisters: Stella Gray Leggett and Peggy Leggett Hathaway.

Mr. Charles is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Leggett Speller (Gary) and son, Gary S. Leggett (Jennifer), both of Williamston; four grandchildren: Stephanie S. Hardison, Stevie Speller, Josh Leggett, Jacob Brandon Leggett and seven great grandchildren; Kelsey Hardison, Kenleigh Hardison, Aubrey Speller, Dylan Speller, Brantley Speller, Rhys Leggett, and Ryder Leggett.
