Charles F. Haddow-Green, age 84, died peacefully at the home of his daughter, Dr. Wendy Gray-Hudnell and son in law, John Hudnell's home in Greenville, NC on December 10, 2020.

He was in the care of Dr. Wendy Gray-Hudnell (daughter), Mark Haddow-Green (his middle son) and his oldest son who visited when he could, Paul Haddow-Green. He lived under their care for the past 3.5 years where he enjoyed his independence in his fancy scooter, often greeting people at the mailbox, taking in the trash can while thanking the trashmen for being such great workers, making his own breakfast and lunch meals, and watching one of his favorite shows NCIS.

He served 28 years in the USMC as a paralegal to the many USMC Colonels where he retired as a Master Gunnery Sgt. He was known to bring home young marines for holidays of which had no family to be with for the holidays. He also worked for 25 years at Furniture Fair as a "Re-Po" Man.  Prior to accepting the care of his daughter, son in law and son, he lived in Jax., NC and could barely walk, but was known for slowly pushing himself to meet court dates, counseling those who were about to have their TV or furniture repossessed or greeting people at the post office.  He was known to be loving to those who had hardships, often asking caring questions and offering assistance the best he could.

He attended Lutheran Church of our Savior most of his adult life, volunteering for Boy Scout events, helping remodel the church in addition to offering his help to neighbors before his wife got sick.

He traveled to Greenville, NC once a week to visit his bed-ridden wife for 18 years where his son and daughter cared for their mom when he could no longer care for her needs in their home. Many would have walked away from the responsibility of caring for a spouse, but his devotion was beautiful, although she did not recognize him the last 4 years of her life.

He passed of heart failure after refusing open heart surgery.  He is best remembered by his children for being a devoted husband and dad who attended every boy scout event, wrestling event for his 2 sons and track/cross country meets of his daughter.  He had a genuine heart for those who were in need and chose to be himself, often having a rather honest and sarcastic sense of humor.

Prior to passing, he was very stubborn and had to be talked into being cared for by his children. He learned to love the care he received and loved the company of his daughter's great Dane, Rocky, who was much like his "service dog".

He is survived by his children, Paul Haddow-Green and his wife, Page. His middle son, Mark Haddow-Green, and his youngest child, Dr. Wendy Gray-Hudnell and her husband, John Hudnell. He also is survived by his grandsons, Thomas and Cameron Haddow-Green, Drake Ferruzzi (and his wife), Kyler Ferruzzi, Micah Gray-Hudnell and great grandson of whom he loved meeting, prior to his passing, Emerson Ferruzzi.

His funeral is only for invited guests (due to Covid restrictions) and will be on Friday, March 12, 2020 at 2pm with military honors in Jacksonville, NC at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery where his favorite music of bagpipes, a drummer and a trumpet player will play.  His grandson, Army Airborne - Kyler Ferruzzi, will be in uniform to present the family with the flag. In addition, his "service dog", Rocky the Great Dane, will also attend the funeral.
