Charles Alfred Coffield, 78, of US Hwy 17, died Wednesday April 24, 2019 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.  He was born in Martin County October 17, 1940 to the late Lloyd and Aurelia Harrington Coffield and was predeceased by a son, James A. "Monkey" Coffield; brothers, Hosea Coffield and William Jesse Coffield.  Mr. Coffield was a retired supervisor with West Point Pepperell and member of Hamilton Church of Christ. Charles served his country in the National Guard. He loved to hunt, fish and grill out.  His greatest pleasure was having all the children at his home.

A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday April 27, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Hamilton Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Friday April 26 ^th at Walker Funeral Home, Williamston from 6-7:30 PM and from the home at other times.  Casual dress is requested for the graveside service.

Survivors his wife, Alice Barber Coffield of the home; daughters, Faye C. Howk of King William County, VA; Darla C. Baird of Union Town, PA; son, Sam Coffield of Williamston; step son, John Bradley Hardison of VA. Beach, VA; sisters, Libby Ann Wombbleton of Tarboro, Joyce Sherill of Boone; brothers, Sammy Coffield of Washington and Henry "Pop" Coffield of Windsor; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
