Obituary

Dateline: Colerain

C. Carroll Daniels, cherished husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14 in Colerain, North Carolina at the age of 88. Born on December 3, 1935, he was the son of J. Cecil and Hallie Clee Daniels. Carroll enjoyed a life filled with family, hunting, fishing, computers and camping with Joan in their RV.

He was born and raised in Perrytown, graduated from Appalachian State and Converse College for his Masters. He served in the North Carolina National Guard and had a career as a High School teacher and coach for 37 years in Palm Beach County, Florida and Ahoskie, North Carolina.

Also known as "Coon," Carroll was an avid fisherman and quail hunter most of his life. He loved to read and in every situation approached life with the mind of a mathematician. In his retirement he was an active member of the Bertie County Arts Council and a volunteer at the Good Shepherd Food Pantry in Windsor.

Carroll enjoyed coaching both football and basketball and was a sports fan throughout his life, most recently enjoying Carolina Hurricane games with Joan. He and Joan visited many places in the US and Canada, traveling as far as Alaska on two occasions. He was in his element when they were camping.

Carroll married the love of his life in Joan, and together they built a family. There's nothing more than the love he gave those three girls. He will always be famous for "Grandaddy's pancakes" which no one else can seem to replicate. The grandkids ate them as fast as he could make them. He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Joan Holzman Daniels and his three daughters, Lynne & husband Wade Hudson, Kim & husband Brad Proctor, and Libby Dickerson; his nine grandchildren, Jonathan, Lane (predeceased), Bennett, McCarty, Tate, Parker, Ben, Carroll Henry and Levi (predeceased); and his sister Treva Daniels Burgess.

Services will be held at Walker Funeral Home Chapel November 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Based on his recent request, in lieu of flowers, please make donations in Carroll's honor to App State Disaster Relief.
