Carol S. Thames, age 84, passed on to be with Jesus Friday, February 20th, 2026, at the Windsor Rehabilitation and Health Center. "Nita", as she was called by her family was a longtime resident of Windsor where she worked for many years at Food Lion. She was the daughter of the late J. B. Simmons and Annie Farmer Simmons.  She is also predeceased by her only son, Danny Rhea, as well as her brothers, J.C., James and Ben Simmons.  She was the widow of Roland "Doug" Thames.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Barbara Tripp of Aulander, her two sisters, Barbara "Bobbie" Pope of Tarboro and Sheilah Shingleton of Walstonburg. She was the grandmother to Jason Tripp (Sarah) of Windsor, as was great grandmother to Alyvia, Weston, and Leah.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 25th  at Walker Funeral Home Chapel in Windsor at 2:00 PM with Pastor Steve Farmer officiating.  A visitation with the family will be from 12:30 to 2:00 preceding the service.
