NC Dateline: Williamston

Mr. Bobby Carroll Long, 78 a resident of Holly Springs Church Road, Williamston, NC passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at his daughter's home. Bobby was born June 18, 1946 to the late Lillian R. Long and Beatrice Cherry Long in Williamston, NC.

Bobby graduated from Williamston High School and later served his country in the US Marine Corps. Bobby worked at the Senator Bob Martin Eastern Agricultural Center until his retirement in 2019. Bobby was a member of the Holly Springs Methodist Church in Williamston and enjoyed farming with his dad, fishing, outdoor activities and most importantly spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Bobby was predeceased by his parents, Lillian R. Long and Beatrice "Dink" Long; brothers, Gilbert Long, James "Buddy" Long, Roy Long and his sister, Mary Reason.

Bobby was survived by his three children: Sarah Long Price(Leo) of Williamston, Amanda Long Gardner (Andy) of Williamston, and one son, David Andrew Long (Heather) also of Williamston; 2 grandchildren: Logan Alexander Gardner and Ashlyn Peyton Gardner of Williamston. Also surviving are one sister, Jessie Critcher of Williamston, and two brothers, Shelton Long and Gene Long both of Williamston.

A celebration of Bobby's life with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Holly Springs Methodist Church, 19621 US HWY 64 Williamston, Dr. Jimmy Long will be officiating the service. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial donations be made to the Williamston Fire & Rescue, 901 Washington Street, Williamston NC 27892 or Holly Springs Methodist Church, 19621 US HWY 64, Williamston NC 27892
