Billy Ray Todd, 80, of Askewville Bryant Street, passed away Friday November 5, 2021, peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Bertie County November 24, 1940, to the late Tulie T. and Johnnie Bowen Todd. He retired as a Road Maintenance Supervisor in 2001 from the North Carolina Department of Transportation. After retirement from the state, he worked with Bertie County Peanuts for many years. Billy Ray was also a longtime member, Sunday school teacher, and former deacon at Askewville Assembly of God, where he also ministered with the Royal Rangers for over 45 years. Billy Ray was well known for his green thumb, cooking fish, and making homemade candy, and loved blessing others through these passions. In his later years, he was often found on the sidelines of many different sporting events, supporting his three grandchildren who he loved dearly.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Geraldine Bryant Todd of the home; son, Ronnie Todd and wife, Lori of Ahoskie; daughter, Sherry Dunlow and husband, Andy; daughter Penny Price; granddaughter, Charitee Farmer and husband, Clint; grandson, Hatcher Price; granddaughter, Hannah Price; and great-granddaughter, Molly Farmer, all of Windsor; sister, Carolyn Lassiter and husband, Albert of Lewiston. Billy Ray was also looking forward to welcoming a new great-grandchild in January.

Along with his parents, Billy Ray was predeceased by an infant daughter, Jenny; brothers J.B., Roy, and Robert Todd; sisters, Susie Barnes and Edna Bazemore.

The family will receive friends Monday, November 8, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Walker Funeral Home and from the home at other times.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 9, at Askewville Assembly of God where Rev R. O. Buddy Denton Jr. and Rev. Webb Hoggard will officiate. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery in Windsor.
