Billy Ray Baker, 77, of Bakertown Road, died at his home, Tuesday, December 31, 2019. He was born in Bertie County December 6, 1942 to the late Sherman and Pauline Suis Baker and was predeceased by a brother, Phil Baker. Billy was a veteran of the US Army and received services from the VA Greenville Clinic Home-Based Health Care for ALS patients . He attended Capehart's Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 2, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Capehart's Baptist Church. Dr. Stanley Hare will officiate. The family will receive friends follow the service.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Evans Baker of the home; daughters, Angie Baker, PhD OTD of Lake Arrowhead, CA and Emilie Underwood of Williamsburg, VA; grandchildren, Evan Baker and Delanie Underwood; brothers, Raleigh Baker of Merry Hill NC, David Tolin of Jacksonville, NC; sister, Becky Maready of Jacksonville, NC.
