In Loving Memory of Beverly Kennedy Alston July 3, 1946 – September 25, 2026

Beverly Kennedy Alston of Kinston, age 80, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2026. Born on July 3, 1946, to the late Rozelle and Alyne Kennedy of Richmond, VA.

Beverly was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend. Her greatest joy and purpose in life was her family. Everything she did, every sacrifice she made, and every act of love she showed was centered on caring for and supporting those she loved. Her family was truly the heart of her world.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Peter Van Alston, whose love remained steadfast throughout their remarkable marriage.

She also leaves behind her cherished children and grandchildren: her daughter, Christine Alston Hobert (Rick) of Wake Forest, and her sons, Ryan and Nicholas; her daughter, Julie Alston Kesterson (Dave) of Ocean Isle Beach, and her children, Ava and Blake; and her son, Scott Alston (Jennifer) of Kinston, and his children, Casey and Caylee.

Beverly is also survived by her brother, David Kennedy (Karen) of Roanoke, VA, as well as her dearest cousin, Pam Ranson (Will) of Richmond, VA, and her son William of Richmond, VA, whose friendship and love were treasured throughout her life.

Beverly was devoted to the Kinston community throughout her life. She retired as manager from the Kinston Employment Security Commission with 20 years of service. She was also a member of the Kinston Junior Women’s Club, The Kinston AAUW Chapter and is a member of The First Baptist Church of Kinston.

Beverly will be remembered for the beautiful life she lived and the countless lives she touched through her kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Service will be held at Walker Funeral Home in Windsor, NC on Thursday, October 1st at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery.
