Beth Layton White, 80, of Karo White Road, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Bertie County, February 10, 1943, to the late John Gilbert and Lucy Vivian Belch Layton and predeceased by a sister, Janie Cornelia Layton Ambrose.

Beth was a member of Merry Hill Baptist Church and a 1961 graduate of Windsor High School. She worked with Jimbo's Jumbo's and later retired from Bertie County Mapping Department as a mapper. She loved to paint and was a member of the Bertie Arts Council. An avid reader, she also loved to garden, grow daylilies, and bird watch. On her adventurous side it was 4 wheeling and cane pole fishing.

Funeral services will be held Saturday August 19, 2023, at 3:00PM at Merry Hill Baptist Church. Rev. Stanley Nixon and Rev. Charles Swanner will officiate. A private burial will follow in the White Family Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Thomas White of the home; daughters, Lisa White Willis (Forest) of Davie, Fl, Susan White Swain (David) of Pantego, Betsy White Thompson (Jamie) of Plymouth, Angela White of Merry Hill, and Karen White Burnett (Shawn) of Merry Hill; sisters, Patricia Layton Anderson of Edenton, Juanita Layton Nixon of Hertford; brother, John Gilber Layton, Jr. of Windsor; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday August 18th from 7-8:30 PM at Walker Funeral Home and from the home at other times.
