Belinda Hughes Helmkamp, 71, of School Road, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023. She was born in Bertie County on April 22, 1952, to the late Herman Bradford and Betty Cowan Hughes. Belinda was an active member of Republican Baptist Church. She enjoyed painting and decorating. She retired from Guardian Care of Ahoskie as assistant activity director.

A funeral service will be held Saturday December 30, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Republican Baptist Church. Rev. Howard Taylor will officiate. A burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery, Windsor. Friends may join the family at 713 Republican Road, the home of Greg and Jenny Hughes.

Survivors include her brother, Herman "Gene" Hughes, and wife Cathy of Windsor; nephew, Greg Hughes and wife, Jenny of Windsor; great nephew, Austin Hughes of Windsor.
