Obituary

Angela "Gela" Griffin Grady joined her beloved husband, William E. "Ed" Grady for an early breakfast in heaven on December 27, 2023. They were married for more that 60 years living in Raleigh, then Williamston,NC,  and were long time members of the First United Methodist Church.  The church was a great joy to Angela.  She was involved in all aspects of the church and especially loved the music program.  She loved lots of children, but Pattie Hopkins Kinlaw and " Kimmie" Harry were special blessings to Angela and Ed.  They called her Mama Annie and were a big part of the Grady life and home. Over the years,  Angela and Ed opened their home to many friends and especially their church family.

Angela loved to sing and was active in the church choir for many years.  When life dealt a blow or loss to a member of her community, she did what Southern women do -  she found a way to help, comfort and support her extended family.  Cooking for others was a way of life for Angela, cooking for her friends but also for her many nieces and nephews who loved to visit.  She will be remembered as a good friend and special "Aunt Gela".

Angela Griffin Grady was born in Belhaven, NC, November 25, 1932 to the late Estella Acton and Lewis Henry Griffin.  She was preceded in death by all her siblings including Marie Ingalls, Amy Harrell, Elsie Respess, Opal Smith, Norman Griffin, Earl Griffin, Milton Griffin, Clarence Griffin, Earnest Griffin and Leslie Griffin.  She is survived by many nieces and nephews and by her special friends from church, Pattie Hopkins Kinlaw and Kimberly Harry.

The family would especially like to thank Julie Luckadoo for her unending love and care for Angela.  Her other caregivers were also loyal companions and added much to Angela's last years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 114 East Church Street, Williamston, NC 27892, or the  charity of one's choice.
