Alvin York, 76, of Askewville North-Railroad Street passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at ECU Bertie Hospital. He was born in Colquitt GA to the late Frank and Mary Elizabeth York and was predeceased by a daughter, Evelyn M. White and fifteen siblings. Alvin was a member of Wakelon Baptist Church. He was the owner and operator of the Butcher Block in Windsor.

A graveside funeral service will be held Sunday November 27, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Edgewood Cemetery in Windsor.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Raycine Mizelle York of the home; stepson, Jim White and wife Traci of Colerain; daughter, Kara Mitchell and husband Chet of Barney GA; sisters, Audrey Dozier of Albany GA and Arnisteen Adams and husband, Herbie of Manchester, GA; grandchildren, Corey, Ethan, Tyler, Kaleb Mitchell, Brook and Chase White; seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial gifts may be made to a charity of one's choice. The family will receive friends from their home and following the graveside service.
