Alonzo Finch Pierce, Jr. (Al) died Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Chowan River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Paradise Road in Edenton.  He was born in Bertie County on May 22, 1945, to the late Alonzo "Boney" Finch Pierce, Sr. and Ercel Dunning Pierce.

Al and Billie were married forty years and they traveled the United States from "stem to stern" for thirty-five of those great years.  Al was an amazing man; he was the youngest Vice President ever to be appointed at Wachovia Bank and he worked in the Student Loan Financial Services of banking for over fifty years.  Al was an avid sports fan, he loved his Dallas Cowboys, the New York Yankees, anything Carolina and everything NASCAR.  Besides his wife, Al's next true love was his Ford F-350 Lariat truck.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 14, 2022, at 11:00 AM in Hillcrest Cemetery, Colerain.  Rev. McCray Dove will officiate.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Martin Pierce of the home; daughter, Robbin Pierce of London, England; son, Alonzo "Lonny" Finch Pierce, III of Winston Salem and grandson, Leo Pierce Price of London, England.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 13, 2022, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Walker Funeral Home- Windsor. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to: Merry Hill Volunteer Fire Dept., 109 NC 45 North, Merry Hill, NC 27957; Capehart's Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in memory of Al's grandparents, John Pierce and Clara Taylor Pierce, c/o Jennifer Evans, 740 Ledrew Perry Road, Merry Hill, NC  27957 or to a charity of your choice.
