Alice Faye Nicholson, born January 24, 1938, in Bertie County, NC, passed away on September 18, 2026, at MacGregor Down Health Center in Greenville, NC, with her family by her side. Her long life was marked by devotion to those she loved, a caring spirit, and the simple joys that brought warmth to everyday living.
Alice graduated from Williamston High School and later earned a certificate from Pitt Community College in Early Childhood Care. She went on to build a working life rooted in service to others, retiring in 2013 as a Sales Associate from Bennie's TV and Radio Shack of Williamston. She was also a devoted military wife, a natural caregiver, and someone who found deep meaning in looking after others. Among the roles she cherished most was caring for her granddaughter, Meredith, a reflection of the tenderness and attentiveness that defined her life.
She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and talking Dateline: Williamston, NC on the phone, pleasures that suited her generous and connected nature. Whether tending to growing things, sharing conversation, or caring for someone in need, Alice brought a steady and loving presence to the lives around her.
She is survived by her daughters, , Benita Vonne Ortiz and Victoria Ortiz Bowen; her granddaughters, Meredith Marie Ortiz, Annette Deseve and Laura Wyatt Clark; grandsons, Taylor and Joshua Clark; her sister, Evely Nicholson Oliver; her brothers, Alton Ray Nicholson and Benjamin Carroll Nicholson; and her cousins, Cynthia Nicholson and Robbie Nicholson. She also leaves behind many treasured memories in the hearts of those who knew her and loved her.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Benjamin "JB" Nicholson and Bessie Ray Leggett Nicholson; her daughter, Valerie Conley; and her brothers, Carlton Eugene Nicholson and Frankie Nicholson. Their memories remained a lasting part of her life and story.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 5:30 PM until 6:30 PM at the Williamston First Pentecostal Holiness Church. A Celebration of life will follow at 6:30 PM at the church, with Pastor Roger Leggett officiating.
Alice F. Nicholson will be remembered for caring heart, her devotion to family, and the kindness she gave so freely. Her life was a blessing, and her memory will be held close by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
