Dateline: Williamston, NC George Warner Corey 90, of 402 E. Vance Street, died Wednesday August 29, 2012 at home. He was born in Martin County March 8, 1922 to the late John Gray and Emma Griffin Corey and was predeceased by his wife, Anne Johns Corey and a brother, Henry Gray Corey. George was the owner of Corey's Inc. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, founding member of Roanoke Country Club and Martin Community College. He was a member of Economic Development, the Lion's Club, Marco Investments Club, United Investors and was a past Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce. On August 1, George along with his daughter started a new business, Corey Heating, Air Conditioning and Plumbing, Inc. Memorial services will be held Saturday September 1, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church by Rev. Susan Harrison and Rev. Taylor Mills. Survivors include his daughter, Mary Anne Crowe of Williamston; son John Corey of Harrisburg, PA; seven grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM Friday, August 31th at First United Methodist Church and at other times from the home. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to either Martin Memorial Library, 210 N. Smithwick St. Williamston, NC 27892 or Amani Children's Foundation, 3279 Robin Hood Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
