McKinley Conner, Jr. 84, of White Oak Road, died Tuesday July 3, 2012 at the Vintage Inn Nursing Home in Williamston. He was born in Bertie County on August 28, 1927 to the late William McKinley and Martha Phelps Conner and was predeceased by his wife, Lucy White Conner, a sister, Sybil Ambrose and a brother, James Conner. “Junior” was a member of Askewville Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge # 5 and Roanoke & Tar River Gun Club. He was a retired timber buyer and logger.

Survivors include his sons, Cola McKinley Conner and wife Judy Davis of Windsor, Joey Edgar Conner and wife, Jennie of Hertford; sisters, Gladys Holiday, Vishtie Smithwick and Faye Jernigan all of Windsor; 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday July 6, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Walker Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Timmy Williford. A private burial will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends Thursday July 5, 2012 from 7-8:30 PM at Walker Funeral Home and at other times from the home.

In lieu of flowers the family request that gifts be made to the American Cancer Society, 930 Wellness Drive # B, Greenville, NC 27834 or to Community Home Care Hospice, 107 West Blvd., Williamston, NC 27892.
